Grown in the Agro Sarnese Nocerino Area of southern Italy near Mt Vesuvius, Ciao San Marzano Tomatoes are governed and controlled by the Consortium of San Marzano producers. The tomatoes are canned and numbered following the very strict San Marzano DOP guidelines and carry the DOP symbol granted by the European Union and the Consortium of San Marzano producers.
Their fleshy texture, low amount of seeds and slightly sweet flavor makes this variety of plum tomato ideal for pizza making. They have been used in Italy and across the world for generations.
